BILLY IDOL

O roqueiro punk britânico Billy Idol está escrevendo uma autobiografia e promete não esconder detalhes sobre drogas, bebidas e mulheres.
Idol disse que ele mesmo vai escrever seu livro de memórias, "Dancing with myself" - o título é o mesmo de um single de sucesso dele dos anos 1980 -, que será lançado no final de 2011 ou início de 2012 pela editora Touchstone, uma divisão da Simon & Schuster.
Billy Idol chegou à fama na época do punk rock como vocalista da banda Generation X. Em 1981 ele se lançou em carreira solo, com sucessos como "White wedding" e "Rebel yell" e continuou a fazer turnês. Em 19 de janeiro de 1991, Billy Idol fez a sua primeira apresentação no Brasil, na segunda edição do Rock In Rio. No dia seguinte, ele fez outra apresentação no Festival, que foi decidida em cima da hora pela produção, para substituir Robert Plant (ex-Led Zeppelin), que tinha cancelado, na véspera, a sua apresentação. A jusificativa: a Guerra do Golfo. Mas, Idol não deixou a desejar e protagonizou, novamente, uma das melhores apresentações daquele festival.

O cantor permaneceu um longo tempo em silêncio na década de 90, onde lançou apenas o álbum "Cyberpunk". Em 2002, ele gravou o acústico “Storytellers” para o canal de TV norte-americano VH-1 e em 2005 volta as paradas com o álbum Devil's Playground.

Em 2008 lançou o CD e DVD "The Very Best Of Billy Idol: Idolize Yourself". Uma coletânia dos principais sucessos e duas faixas novas, John Wayne e New Future Weapon.
